As Hong Kong gets into a fashion-frenzy for HKTDC’s month-long ‘Hong Kong in Fashion 2016’ campaign, we’re delighted that fabulous pre-loved clothing is featuring heavily on the map for this CENTRESTAGE production.
Nothing pleases us more than rummaging through a rack of gorgeous, barely worn labels, or just as good, browsing through a selection of handpicked second-hand items online. Luckily for us, both options are now readily available in Hong Kong.
Here is a round-up of the latest pre-loved scoops to get your fashion juices flowing:
Get Redressed Pop Up Shops
Our friends at charity, Redress, are hosting two second-hand clothing Pop Up Shops with their partners, PizzaExpress and KONG. You can shop from an impressive range of pre-loved luxury brands to quality high-street labels with all proceeds going to support their goal to cut the waste out of the fashion industry.
7-9 September, PizzaExpress, Wing Fung Street, Wan Chai (11.30am-9pm)
23-30 September, KONG Gallery, 3 Staunton Street, Central, (10.00am-6.00pm)
Making it Personal with The Closeteur
The Closeteur is a community for fashion lovers looking for a fresh way to buy and sell pre-loved clothing. The Closeteur’s mission is to redefine the perception of second-hand fashion by partnering with fashion influencers. By restyling the pre-loved items of these best-dressed professionals, people get a sneaky peak into their closets and a chance to own a piece for themselves. This way, every piece tells a unique story.
As well as their mission to reduce waste, The Closeteur donates a portion of sales to a variety of conservation charities, including 1% for the Planet.
Winning Pre-Loved Fashion for Little Tykes Too
It won’t come as a surprise to any parent that kids speed through seven sizes of clothing in the first two years of life! New pre-loved clothing website, Retykle, has been launched to make buying and re-selling quality baby and kid’s clothes as easy and as stylish as it is eco-friendly.
Gorgeous designer baby and children’s clothes are a fraction of the price, with many still unworn and sporting their original tags. Sellers will also earn from this consignment system.
It’s a winner all round – for the buyer, the seller, and the planet!
